At the Rainbow District School Board Meeting yesterday; February 19th the auditorium at Lockerby Composite School was full with concerned parents,
teachers, students and community
members they were wondering what the trustees have decided for the fate of their school. Parents and
Teachers from R.H. Murray Public School in Whitefish were nervous as well as their school has been on the
chopping block since February last year!
The room fell silent as the meeting came to order. As Jean Hanson, Director of Education
made a short speech the
parents blood pressures hit an all time high. After deciding other school’s fates, they turned to R.H. Murray.
There was a unanimous vote…to keep the school open.
Parents took a sigh of relief. Many going to Tim Hortons for a celebration coffee.
But it has been decided, that all our efforts have paid off.
Thank you to all who took action. Especially the following:
- Cathy Stadder-Wise
- Sara and Jason Neva
- Tom Price
