Regular Meeting January 8, 2008
Present:Jack Oatway, Leslee Salo, Brenda Salo, Ladonna Sproule, Ken salo, Eija Hetaharu, Barry Seawright, Robert Luopa, Diane Bruhmuller, Maureen Bennison, Wayne Laframboise, Margaret Laframboise.

Minutes of Regular Meeting Nov 6, 2008
Acceptance moved by Robert, seconded by Ken. Carried.
Financial Report: Not available
President Report:
Brenda thanked club membership for their expressions of sympathy and flowers at recent passing of her brother as well as their get well wishes and fruit basket following her recent surgery.
Brenda reported GCS Leisure grant application for new tables has been received and will be proceeding with purchase.
Brenda read memo of support for RH Murray Public School parents committee written by Councillor Jacques Barbeau to Raibow District School Board.

THAT THE BEAVER LAKE CLUB MEMBERSHIP PRESENT UNANIMOUSLY SUPPORT PARENTS’ GROUP OPPOSING THE RAINBOW DSB PROPOSED CLOSURE R H MURRAY PUBLIC SCHOOL. Carried.
Donations received from Jim and Anne Pomerleau with thanks for hall use during Christmas week. Donation received in memory of Piirkko Salmanen.
Happy 90th Birthday wishes from Beaver Lake Club to be sent to Toby Luukko.
Ursa Major Minerals Minning Company will be holding public information meeting about final proposed route at Beaver lake Center on January 24th at 4:00pm.
Membership renewal time is here, please forward annual dues as soon as possible to Eija Heitaharu, Membership Director.
Committee/Activity Events
Christmas Crafters Dec.1, 2007 Report Robert
Robert reported approximately 20 tables were rented and approximately 90 breakfasts served. Event was judged to be a financial success. Final financial statement is pending.
Pot Luck Membership Christmas Dinner and Club Meeting Dec. 4, 2007 Eija
Eija reported successful event with approximately 50 members attending with children. Some confusion about event informality and meeting arrangements:
Leo Oman shared his correspondence to city maintenance about poor snow plowing service and lack of services for our area. Encouraged members to report complaints.
Agreed that event should be held again next year with attention to making sure everyone is informed of the evening program beforehand.
Seniors Christmas Dinner Dec. 12, 2007 Brenda
Brenda reported event was a success with approximately 90 dinners served. Thanks were expressed to members, Marilyn and Ken Shamess. Mentioned as well Helen and Ken Makela, Eric Hansen, Jim and Anne Pomerleau and thanks for financial partnership and support from Lion President Gary Lampi and Whitefish Lions Club.
Carnival Planning Committee Feb. 16-17-18, 2008 Brenda
Reviewed and confirmed program as outlined in proposed flyer. see attached.
Further, the following decisions were endorsed:
Re: Opening Ceremonies:
Barry Seawright will assist with Opening Ceremonies Program and ensure that podium is available and oudoor lighting and Christmas lights are installed. Agreed that budget for “firecracker show”will be doubled for this year and that Brenda will consult Gretta Harju about idea for outdoor show on ice.
Saturday Supper/ Dance
Robert will followup and contact band possibility from Espanola High School
